Production Blog #10 - Final Task

Image
Hello and welcome to my last blog, after finishing and reviewing the editing with my peers on how the film should look we moved onto the next step. Being able to create a website and social media page. First I used Wix to develop a nice theme for my website, I included the poster as well as the credits and release dates, I want to make sure the website looks nice and polished. Next, I focused on social media platforms such as  YouTube and Instagram  to maximize our film’s reach. On  YouTube , I uploaded the trailer, behind-the-scenes footage, and short clips to generate interest. YouTube’s algorithm can help recommend our content to users who watch similar films, potentially reaching a broader audience. On Instagram, I posted promotional images, countdowns to the release, and even short clips from the film to create anticipation. I also utilized. Hashtags played an important role in increasing visibility. I researched and used  hashtags relevant to our genre a...

Production Blog #9 - Final Task

Hey! welcome back to my next blog, Last blog we went over the problem we had with editing however we managed to find a solution for this said problem. So now that we fixed the editing problem we are now going to finalize everything that is needed for editing. So I made sure I added the background music to fit each scene. Background music is essential to any film as if you have silly music behind an important scene it will not portray the emotions behind the scene properly. I added the music in every film. Next I fixed the sounds in the film, making sure the voice sounds were heard, because we wanted to make sure the dialogue was able to be heard. Our Problem at first was that the dialogue was too quiet, and now due to a bit of editing it was turned up and now sounds good. Next I made sure to have peers overlook the editing and give any comments. A lot of my peers were giving good reviews and appreciated the film. One thing they all said was a bit off was the tone, the tone was a ...

Production Bog #8 - Final Task

Hey guys welcome back to another one of these blogs in the blog previously we were discussing the editing portion of the video and a majority of the first part of the editing process was dumping the clips into the editing software and making sure that the clips are filmed well and what not. When I started editing the clips however and started cutting and editing the clips to help the flow of the film look better. Once I did all the cuts and tweaks for the film, I came up to a big problem. The film elapsed to WAY over 5 minutes and it was a huge problem for Lance and I as we wanted to show off a quality film but also be able to show it in the time span we had to came up with quick thinking.  We decided that we would keep in the house scene as it elapsed to just above 5 minutes and cut out the rest of the scenes as we still wanted to bring quality to our film.  Cutting out scenes was a difficult decision because each one contributed something unique to the storyline. Howe...

Production Blog #7 - Final Task

Hello and Welcome back to the production blogs. As we are nearing the end of the filming series we are now into a new chapter, editing. Editing plays a crucial role in filming because without editing. So first I overlooked all the clips we have filmed throughout the span of this filming process and checked to make sure they were alright to use and I started the editing process. I wanted to make sure that the clips flowed through in the order I had chosen for them. So I started with the House then moved on to the Interviewing area and finally the downtown part I had made sure to drag the clips and put them in the correct spots and When I first started editing I had alot of footage to go by and I just want to be able to have the 5 minute mark down. Now that I have dragged the clips I did some adjustments at first to be able to understand the scenes without having those cuts in place. Now that I have all the base stuff ready to begin editing, now we can move on to the next stu...

Production Blog #6 - Final Task

Hey! and welcome back to the last filming blog, last blog we perfected the scenes in the house and what not we also had to re film a lot of the scenes as the fight scenes and the intro, however a lot of that took time and we were able to master it. Next we were going to record the scenes in downtown and outside of the House. this required the use of props such as the police vest as well as a fake police car to make it realistic as possible. We want to sell that this is a police interviewing a witness. We had dialogue for this part and it was straight forward and easy to use throughout the film we were able to have the characters/actors portray what was going on and be able to convey the emotions for police scene. For the Downtown scene we had it done briskly and swiftly as the whole point of the scene is to portray it as a business call and make it professional as possible. Think about it: a real police interview has a certain weight to it, right? We spent time discussing how a r...

Production Blog #5 - Final Task

Hey welcome Back to my next blog, last blog we went over the start of the filming process between the House due to it being a bit shaky and the film quality not as good due to cuts that looked very lack luster as well as unprofessional ism with the lighting we had decided to re due the House scene. So we had scheduled for another day to record the film. We ended up using a better camera quality, used better props, as well as make sure that we had our dialogue down to the tee. We wanted to make sure that the House scene was perfection as that was the hook, line, and sinker. We spent extra time practicing our lines, so the dialogue would flow perfectly. We even rehearsed our movements, so everything looked natural. We wanted to make sure that the house scene was absolutely perfect, because it’s the scene that really grabs the audience's attention. We also paid close attention to the lighting, experimenting with different setups to create the exact mood we wanted. It was a lot of ha...

Production Blog #4 - Final Task

Hey guys welcome back to another blog. Today me and gabe began the filming for our project. We began by filming all of the scenes that take place during the day. It just makes more sense that way. First we went to downtown Fort Lauderdale to film the scenes where the hit man is on the phone. These scenes were easy to film because it was mostly dialogue and in this scene gabe could use any mannerisms he wants to convey his character. Then we shot the scenes where the police are present. This went smoothly because we were in a relatively quiet neighborhood so we could work without interruptions. Then we began to shoot the scenes inside of the house. This proved to be more challenging at times. We spent a while figuring out all of the lighting we were going to use. It was between using the lights the house already has or setting up our own. We also have to be very careful when filming scenes with lots of movement since we were indoors we ran the risk of knocking something over or tr...

Production Blog #3 - Final Task

H ey guys welcome back to the next production blog for my film! We have already discussed the locations we've scouted and why we chose to film where we did. We have also already discussed the props and their meaning. Now it is time to discuss the actors that will be in my film. Casting the right actors is obviously essential to any film, actors are the backbone of any film. That applies to our film, we wanted actors that would perfectly fit the roles we needed: a hit man. a business man, a cop, etc. We ran into some issues regarding our actors and their availability. Because of this we're going to have to work with only 3 or 4 actors instead of the originally planned 5.  At first there was supposed to be: the Original businessman, the CFO, The hitman, and two police cops. This totals as 5 actors however due to some of the actors not being able to make it this led us to improvising. As Gabriel will be acting as the hitman and as a "cop" that's disguised and I wi...

Production Blog #2 - Final Task

Hey guys welcome back to another blog. Today we'll be going over the props and costumes we decided to use for our film. Our story centers around a regular everyday office worker and the hitman that is attempting to kill him. We wanted the costumes to reflect that. For our protagonist we decided on a very unassuming look. Kaki pants and a collared checkered sweater. We want him to look like a completely normal person and the soft colors and clothes will give him a softer more innocent vibe. A classic protagonist. For the hitman he'll be wearing an all black suit and a mask. The dark colors of his suit contrast with the light colors of the main character. it also helps give him a menacing vibe. We'll also have an investigator at the crime scenes at the end. For props we have a prop gun with a silencer, prop knife, caution tape, and fake blood. The silenced gun is for the hitman. The prop knife will play a very important role in the story since there will be a struggle scene...

Production Blog #1 - Final Task

Hey guys welcome back I'm excited to bring you guys back to my first production blog for my short film. This blog will be going over the locations we looked at when deciding were to shoot scenes for our film. We first looked at down town Fort Lauderdale at night. We think this is a great location to film because it has a metropolitan look giving our film a feeling of being alive. We looked at other locations in the greater Fort Lauderdale area such as Lauderdale by the sea but we agreed the beach/summery vibe is not what we need for this film. We also went to down town Miami, but we ended up deciding to film the city scenes of our film in down town Fort Lauderdale. We feel like down town Fort Lauderdale is perfect because it has the perfect city life vibe while also not being too flashy and bright. It has a sort of intimate darkness to it due to all the warm lighting. Next for the indoor scenes we decided on my partner Gabe's house. There's plenty of space and his house h...
