Production Blog #1 - Final Task
Hey guys welcome back I'm excited to bring you guys back to my first production blog for my short film. This blog will be going over the locations we looked at when deciding were to shoot scenes for our film. We first looked at down town Fort Lauderdale at night. We think this is a great location to film because it has a metropolitan look giving our film a feeling of being alive. We looked at other locations in the greater Fort Lauderdale area such as Lauderdale by the sea but we agreed the beach/summery vibe is not what we need for this film. We also went to down town Miami, but we ended up deciding to film the city scenes of our film in down town Fort Lauderdale. We feel like down town Fort Lauderdale is perfect because it has the perfect city life vibe while also not being too flashy and bright. It has a sort of intimate darkness to it due to all the warm lighting. Next for the indoor scenes we decided on my partner Gabe's house. There's plenty of space and his house has lots of different rooms and hallways where we can get creative with our shots. We did also look at my own house to film since I had just recently moved to a bigger place. We really want the house location to be as perfect as possible since this is where we'll be filming the bulk of the scenes. We decided my house's lighting was too cold. Cold lighting is bad for our purposes because it takes away from the overall dark tone we want to keep in our film. We need more space in the in-house scenes because we're filming action sequences so the more space we have to work with the more creative we can get. Gabe's house also has lots of dark corners and places with little to no lights which is perfect. We started looking at different places for the office scenes too. It's not our biggest concern because the office scenes are minimal. We thought of using one of our parents office rooms but if that doesn't work we can just use any dark room and make it look like an office. Gabe also has a very quiet and calm area which is perfect since that fits the vibe we want to have in the film. Also we will be having to shoot some outdoor scenes so the less traffic the better.
