Production Blog: Editing, visuals

Image
Hey blog. After gathering all the footage for our music video we have began the editing process. As stated before we are using CapCut to create and edit our music video. CapCut is honestly the best choice considering me and my teammates have very different schedules and life is unpredictable. It will allow us to edit our video in places we may not be able to bring a laptop. For the visual aspect of our video, we are aiming for a more dark and intense look. The lighting is a very important aspect. Warm lighting and cool lighting are very different. warm lighting gives a more intense atmosphere I believe. While cool lighting has a more relaxed but serious atmosphere. For our video we will be using a mixture of both to add contrast. We will most likely use warm lighting for the morning scenes both indoors and outside during the jog. This is because warm lighting is more associated with home and street lights. This will give the first few scenes their own unique feel. This will greatly co

Production Blog: Filming, gathering group footage

Hey blog. I have some exciting news to share with you all. Me and my teammates have gathered the footage for the rest of our music video. We went to different location to film because we think it will look more appealing having different backgrounds. We filmed ourselves doing different activities such as jogging, running, pull ups, and push ups. However, we did include footage of us doing more standard beach things like swimming, sun bathing, playing volleyball, and just having fun. We did this because we want to communicate the message that fitness exists outside of the gym. You don't need weights and a gym to stay fit and in shape. We also gathered footage at the gym of us working out. Because of schedule issues we've decided to film in our own respective gyms. I will be performing the deadlift of 300lbs. I'm sure I can go heavier since I have deadlifted 350lbs in the past but the heavier I go the higher risk of injury I face. 300lbs is heavy enough to challenge me and I

Production Blog: Filming, finishing filming my scenes

Image
Hey blog. I've started to gather the footage for the first few scenes. Like I've said in the last blog the first few scenes will be split evenly among the three of us, but each person has three in the beginning so it's still a good amount of work. I've gathered my footage for both times of day. With the early release on Monday and the day off on Tuesday me and my teammates will have more freedom and time to film. This will really work in our favor. With these extra days even if we cant get all the footage in one day we can always get the rest another. And of course life happens and its impossible to say what will happen but we will be able to film whichever scenes the situation allows. My teammates and I have made a list of gyms we can go to gather our footage. The issue arises when we remember the fact that a gym is an open place and we have to be mindful of other people trying to enjoy their workouts as well. Taking this into consideration we have a particular gym th

Production Blog: Planning, gathering footage for the first few scenes

Image
Hey blog. This week I will start to gather footage for me and my teammates music video. This week I'm really going to focus on gathering footage for the first few scenes. The first scenes are split between the three of us. I need a sequence of me waking up early, preparing myself breakfast or a protein shake. I also need footage of me going for a morning jog. The overall plan isn't over complicated but the only issue is the time of day we want to shoot. We all agree that the dark of the night or early morning really fits the theme perfectly. In our video we are trying to translate the mindset of fitness and exercise. The mentality you need to be great. The music and the dark along with the message we're trying to convey. The mentality it takes has a certain intensity. It's almost as if there's a weight in your mind and you feel this drive to push yourself. It's a dark and sort of intense mindset but it is liberating at the same time. The issue with this and the

Hey blog it's Lance, and I'll be working with 2 people on my music video. One of these people is my good friend Kevin. Kevin actually worked with me on my commercial project and I think this paired with the fact he's a close friend of mine will allow us to collaborate better together. We both share a passion for exercise and body building. Our parents are also friends so we'll be able to gather footage together easier. As I have said before, me and Kevin have very different training styles and goals, and I think this will make for a more interesting and in depth music video. The other person I will be working with is another good friend of mine Julian. Julian, like me and Kevin, shares a passion for exercise. Julian also has access to a car so it's possible that this time we will be able film in different places and make the music video more interesting. All three of us have very different body types, training styles, and goals. So working together will be a unique

Hey blog its me again. I've finished my commercial and I'm quite proud of my work. This time I'll be taking you through the process of creating my music video.  My name is Gabriel Lance Reyes but ever since the 6th grade everyone calls me Lance. I love working out especially at the gym with friends its honestly one of my favorite hobbies. I can only work with music or a video in the background it really helps me focus. I really enjoy writing mostly horror short stories, I've loved horror movies. I love music more than anything I need it in every second of my life. I love binge watching movies at night especially action/fantasy and i love fantasy in general. I love lifting to music and especially at night. I don't like country music or some modern rap but I love music from the 80's and 70's especially. Love walks at night they really help me destress and in general i consider myself of more of a night person. I've never really been a technology kind of p
