Production Blog: Re-shoot day

Image
Hey blog. Finally me and Kevin were able to form a plan and we were able to meet and re-shoot the film. a few days ago me and Kevin formed a new plan. This time we would shoot the film in his house. We just needed to secure a ride. Luckily I was able to take his bus with no issue. Once we were there issues did begin to appear. For once since we had shot the original footage so long ago the time had changed. We now had an extra hour. That meant that the sun was burning bright well until 7:00. This was a huge issue. I couldn't stay that late and the time it would take to gather all of the footage would take far too long. All of the scenes were shot at night. Kevin's house has huge open windows in every room. It seemed impossible. I was tempted to give up. There weren't even any blinds for his windows. However, we just couldn't afford to wait another day. So we shot all of the scenes. The house's layout was drastically different from mine. With much less space in s

Production blog: Last minute re-shoot attempt

Image
Hey blog. A lot has happened in these past few days. I had been attempting to export the film from CapCut in order to submit it and possibly do any quick last minute adjustments. I had been attempting to export the film but I had kept getting the notification that I had to download CapCut Pro in order to do this. I was so confused I have never had to deal with this before. I looked at youtube videos and various forums online trying to figure it out. Then eventually I decided I had to re-shoot the entire film. I couldn't re-use any old footage because I had permanently deleted them from my phone in order to make space in my storage for the final product. I called Kevin and we made a plan to meet up and re-shoot the entire film. We planned to meet on Saturday. We'd both be free and we had planned a group gathering a few days before so it would be convenient to meet then. We'd just split from the group later on at the end. My grandpa would take Kevin home and before that we&

Revisions Blog

Image
Hey blog. Today I made the revisions to my film. I took great consideration of Julian's suggestions. I also made some of my own design. Thankfully I won't have to re shoot any scenes. I don't think I would have the time or the energy. All of the revisions can be done on CapCut and it wasn't too difficult. The first thing I revised was the picture quality and filter in the first scenes. The first scenes took place in the gym. The lighting was cold and it was quite bright. The picture was also very clear and looked like a regular video. This isn't necessarily an issue in of itself. I wanted there to be a contrast between these scenes and the later ones in the film. The issue was that the contrast was too great. So I adjusted the exposure to give it a dimmer look. I wanted to keep the contrast so I kept the clear quality. Next I attempted to change the volume of the music during the monster scenes. I found it was difficult to isolate the music per scene so instead I ex

Peer Review Blog

Hey blog. Today I had my friend Julian review our film. To be honest I was hoping that he wouldn't have much to say in terms of criticism, but I also wanted his honest opinion. I put a lot of effort into this film and of course I'm open to critique but I was hoping I did a well enough so that he would be impressed. Surprisingly and thankfully he was greatly impressed with out film. He really liked the camera work and visuals. He said the the picture getting gradually grainier was a nice touch. However he noted that it could have been done smoother. The very beginning scenes were crystal clear in cold lighting. The picture looked too clean and the transition from that to the warmly lit, grainier picture of the later scenes. The contrast was too hard and I could have made these 2 visuals blend more seamlessly. He was also impressed with the use of different camera angles in my shots. he really appreciated the use of both dutch angles and wide shots. He did note that the music

Re-editing Blog

Hey blog. Today I will be re-editing the footage. Thankfully there wasn't much that needed to be re-edited. Some issues came up with the audio. The audio isn't as long as the film is so me and Kevin had to work on this. I had the idea only to include the music for the latter part of the film. The beginning sequence is me and Kevin walking to my house. I figure I don't need music for this sequence. I can either use the background sounds from the  original footage or make it silent. I'm adding the sound towards the middle and I'll make it slowly fade in. During the last walking scene where we're walking on the sidewalk near my house I'll add the music to slowly fade in. I think this will actually work our favor. It would add to the feeling of dread and unease me and Kevin are trying to create. Making this happen was pretty simple. I just had to adjust the placing of the audio file in correspondence to the length of the film. Me and Kevin debated whether or n
