Filming Blog: Gym scene footage

Hey blog. Today yesterday I attempted to gather footage for the gym scenes that take place in the beginning of me and partners film. I woke up early as always for school and made sure to bring my tripod and some small lights. After school is when we went to gather footage and to be honest I have never been so tired. it had been a long day and the last thing I wanted to do was gather footage. We went to this gym near my place because its closest, but of course I couldn't get Kevin in. my membership is only for one person so that meant our initial plan had to be scrapped. I was really stressed out about this. We based our entire filming schedule that day based off that location, and now we couldn't film there. Thankfully I called a close friend of mine and he happened to have this small private gym near his house with enough space and equipment to film. I was so relieved, the only issue was it was near the beach and about 3 miles away. But I was determined to gather this footage and stay on schedule. When we got there I was immediately impressed, it had plenty of space and the lighting was perfect for the atmosphere I was trying to create. I also happen to be the cameraman for this film. Its no fault of Kevin but I have much more experience with film and I also really enjoy it. Bringing ideas to life with my iphone camera. Kevin is mostly an actor in this film but I had no complaints I was having a lot of fun finding different angles to film in. I made use of wide shots because I felt like it would make the characters seem smaller compared to the background and it would really instill this idea that something is off. As if the audience are spectators looking for small details and signs in the background, expecting some face or entity to show. But it never does. At least not in this scene. Overall although the day was more stressful than I would have liked I still enjoyed being cameraman and I'm very happy with the footage I was able to get.
